I boarded a T&P passenger, Dallas to El Paso in the summer of 1964. Cars were being switched in the yard, putting the train together. I walked to the end of the car, and, staring at me across the vestibule was the headlight and front end of a steam switcher. In 1964! Can anybody shed any light on this ghost? The last T&P revenue steam run was in 1953, so all the steamers should have been retired.

The Switcher that you are referring to may have been the Dallas Union Terminal Co. number 7. It was retired in 1963 and donated to the Museum of the American Railroad, (at the time known as The Age of Steam Museum), at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas.
