My dad worked for the T&P for almost 40 years. He was a yard master in Dallas from around 1942 to 1966. His first yard office was in east dallas near the fairgrounds and later in downtown dallas right behind the Texas School Book Depository and at the Browder, TX yard near grand prarie. I went to work with him many times while he was a yard master and he would put me up into switch engines and they would let me ride there for hours. We also rode on the T&P from Dallas to El Paso and New Orleans many times as we had relatives in both places. We also used to take the T&P/Missouri and Pacific to St. Louis, through Little Rock, AR. I have many more stories if anyone is interested.

Hi Brat
My dad was a T&P brakeman out of El Paso from 1945 to 1975. Like you I used to go to work with him. I would help on baggage from El Paso to Big Spring throwing out mailbags at places like Pecos and Monahans. We would stay over at the Settles hotel in Big Spring.
I later worked as an operator for the T&P from summer '67 to spring '68 in El Paso Toyah and Odessa.
Looks like we're both TP Brats!
