Found a reference stating that a dome car was being used occasionally west of Ft. Worth around February 1963 on the "Texas Eagle." [I'm guessing up to that time it never ventured west of Ft. Worth.]
A follow-up reference states that dome was transferred to the "Louisiana Eagle" (Ft. Worth-New Orleans) by December 1963.

I saw that dome car you are talking about several times in the consist of the westbound T&P passenger train that passed through Abilene, Texas in the early afternoon in the years 1963 and possibly 1964, if my memory is correct. The last time I remember seeing it, it was already painted that infamous solid Binks blue that the Missouri Pacific had adopted for its passenger trains. I also remember that it was only a very short while after that last sighting I had of that dome car that T&P took the dining and sleeping cars off the passenger trains that it operated on its line west of Fort Worth, and it reduced the number of passenger trains it operated on its line west of Fort Worth to one a day in each direction. By 1965, the one passenger train T&P operated each way on its line west of Fort Worth had been reduced even more to a few mail and express cars, and just one coach (chair car). For meals this train stopped for about 30 minutes at Colorado City, Texas, and it made a second meal stop at Millsap, Texas, just west of Weatherford and Fort Worth.

I witnessed some references like couple of times about dome car..
they ran on pretty established route..
dome concept is getting erupting again in both transport & housing ; I wonder some of pal referred me inflatable domes having captioned camp living..what is this thing?
Is this a veteran and vintage concept? are there any reference available that it was being used in Texas (T&P)
