IN CEREMONIES on November 13, the former Texas & Pacific station in Marshall, Texas, was formally dedicated after a $1.4 million, 9-year renovation. Abandoned in the mid-1970's and later threatened with demolition, the 1912 brick structure now contains a museum, snack area, offices, and waiting and ticket facilities for Amtrak Texas Eagle passengers. Local group Marshall Depot Inc. worked with owner Union Pacific in saving the building, an especially challenging project in view of its location in the middle of an active wye.
