A retired T&P Engineer

Post by TandPHoghead »

I just discovered this site via the T&P Steam Roster. I hired out as a fireman on the T&P in New Orleans in June of 73. Was promoted to Engineer in Feb 74. I ran from New Orleans to Alexandria and Dequincy, and from Livonia to Shreveport and Monroe. I had to retire in 2000 due to spinal surgery. I was a 4th generation Engineer and my father was a T&P Engineer out of New Orleans also. As running train was in my blood I still needed to be around trains. In Feb 2003 I became a member of The Louisiana Steam Train Association (LASTA) www.lasta.org. LASTA obtained a federal grant and restored to operation the Steam Locomotive SP 745 a 2-8-2 Mike. I am currently the president and chief operations officer along with maintaining, firing and running 745. I would like to meet up with other T&P employees and all of those interested in the T&P.
